I think reporters at 14 ARE there to learn and get better. If everyone over there thought they were the best...their egos certainly would not let them carry around a camera in this 90 degree heat! Yes, some of them have a little less experience than at the "big three" but they are getting the stories told and getting them told well. In fact, I noticed they are hiring once again...seen a few new reporters over there who are pretty good...14 must be making some money if they can go out and hire new people now.
And again, 14 is beating WCNC in certain timeslots with 1/3 the viewers so I think that is fairly impressive.
I am out of the business now, but I can still say Jim Newman was the best boss I have ever had. |

I have a hard time believing 14 is beating even 36 at any time... like to see that backed up somewhere.
Maybe when they're running infomercials?????
Anyway, here's a perfect example of the attitude Charlotteans have toward News 14. (Yes, this actually happened):
Me: "I leave my TV on News 14 when I'm gone so people will think someone's home."
Neighbor: "If it's on News 14, they'll know no one's home! Who would sit at home and watch THAT?!?!?!"
