The lightning and rainstorm last Thursday night seemed to wake up everyone but the WB 49 news department. The Sinclair Broadcasting station runs an hour newscast at 10 p.m. that combines local news in Buffalo with national news from Sinclair's Baltimore studios. The weather reports for Buffalo and several other cities with Sinclair affiliates come from Maryland, though the station tries to make it look like the forecast is done here.
But there was no hiding anything Thursday, when the Maryland weather segments ignored the explosive weather here. This would have been an even bigger problem if more people watched WB 49's newscasts and relied on its weather. But Thursday's newscast only had a .7 rating, meaning fewer than 6,000 homes were watching here.
"We've taken steps to prevent what happened from happening again," said WB 49 News Director Bruce Corris.

Too bad Pergy conveniently left out the fact that WIVB pulled an incredible 39/38 share that same night at 11. Hello!!! Isn't that also part of the story. I suspect it would have been a different story if those numbers came from Delaware Avenue.
