I'm also a SoCal native... but I would take 60-70k in Knoxville over 90K in Los Angeles ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
That being said, you've got to take into account your family's personalities. Are they more impressed with trendy clubs/restaurants, nightlife and 24 hour stuff to do, or are you cool with the Smoky Mountains, four season weather, outdoor activity and UT sports?
Really, either way, it should be easy for you... the two cities couldn't be more different... unlike if you were comparing LA vs. SF or Knoxville vs. Asheville. |

TO is a wonderful suburb of LA. Considered one of the safest communities in calif by the FBI. Bbut with 90K a year before taxes a bit of a stretch unless u have enough for a big downpayment on a house..Renting look at near 2k for a 4 bedroom in a good area.
