...the earlier posts, so I hope I'm not addressing the wrong thing here --
But you might want to think of your ND (or GM or GSM or any other executive) as a PERSON instead of a boss. You may NEVER have anything in common with them, but finding out what they're interested in, what makes them tick will help. Or talk to them about the stories of the day. Or get advice on a story/series your working on.
It's not sucking up or kissing ass, it's forging relationships with the people you spend most of your waking hours with. And unless your ND is a real jerk, he/she would probably find it refreshing to talk to an employee he knows very little about. |
