don't compare Alexis with Deborah Norville. Norville was more polished.
Alexis may be fine, but as a typical mom/wife viewer, I do not care for her delivery.
Remember when she couldn't pronounce Nick Lachey's last name? Not blaming her directly for that ---someone should have told her.
She's sweet and nice, but I find Natalie M. and Campbell much more interesting to listen to. |

Deborah Norville cut her teeth on local news for nearly a decade before arriving on TODAY as the newsreader. She was untouchable as the anchor of Sunrise, and, had the transition from Pauley to her been made with even the slightest bit of grace, I suspect she would have enjoyed a lengthy tenure at TODAY, for she was more than qualified for the job.
As to the future of TODAY, I see it this way: within a year, Natalie Morales replaced Ann Curry at the newsdesk. Katie Couric signs a new contract with TODAY for an unspecified amount of money. Matt Lauer departs TODAY at the end of his contract and is replaced by Lester Holt. The new TODAY family: Katie, Lester, Al, and Natalie.
