The UN World Agricultural Organization reported some time ago that the world--especially Third World/undeveloped nations--lose more than 25% of their harvested grains to fungi, and a higher percentage of their grains to disease and insects. Genetically engineered grains will vastly improved this problem which has often led to famine.
To utter "We don't need gm food" confirms my worst suspicions about your ignorance. The world's agricultural scientists and relief organizations feel strongly otherwise; not just the companies who make money from genetic engineering. |
