INVITED in by the aruba authorities.. who seemingly need all the help they can get.. and it's gotten to be a big story because a HELL of a lot of americans go there, and it's ALWAYS been among the safest, if not THE safest tourist destinations in that part of the world..the Beach Boys sure seemed to like it.. |

when Natalee's parents realized the Aruban authorities weren't giving the case priority. They called their Alabama senator who in turn called the Aruban authorities, who blew him off. He worked his way all the way up to the Prime Minister. I'm sure he probably said something to the effect of it was in the island's best interest not to screw up this case and the PM reluctantly agreed to let the senator call in the FBI.
That's how they got there.
