There is no debating he was big in Philadelphia as both a meterologist and as a celebrity/famous guy.
The one day that really hurt him in a broadcasting sense was when he absolutely bungled a forecast where he called for one of the one worst blizzards Philadelphia has ever experienced and we got next to nothing. That credibility hit was hard to overcome but he could then fall back on being famous.
I think he does alright, is handsome, though for some reason I never thought of him as a must watch dude. Others did. From what I understand, he is not nearly as big in New York. |

Take away John's fabled ability to get press in Philly over nothing, and you come up with an ordinary weather presence who was called a meteorologist without really being one.
No visible impact in the New York market after all this time. I suppose NYC wants accurate forecasts and credible presentations.
