I *was* the anchor that night that Brian's sportscast went down in flames... and yes, I was prepared. Honestly, so was Brian. He was asked to fill in at least three or four hours before airtime. He rehearsed plenty. He just froze. That happens from time to time, and it's a shame his clip spread like wildfire.
You only saw three or four seconds of me anchoring...and after a good solid three minutes of Brian, you believe my co-anchor and I are worse? How would you have responded if a co-anchor went down in flames like that? It's almost as if you expect us to have scripted it.
Should we have pointed it out to our viewers further, or simply move on as gracefully as possible. We did what any other professional would have done...we went to commercial. |
