I have been reading the posts in this site for some time now and never had I come accross one that presented the kind of support and concern and kindness that this has generated.
Not one insult. Not one derogaroty comment (Well, maybe one). WOW.
I have been out of the business for almost two years now and, although I am eager to go back to the passion of my professional life, reading most of the posts made me remember the nasty and superficial side of this world and made me hesitate.
This sort of changes things.
Good for you guys!

jumping in cause no one said this yet.
this is not a matter of schmoozing.
engage in real talk with your mgrs by asking what they thought of your piece. if they are gone when you get back - ask them the next day. ask for tape review time. mgr friend of mine beefs that people in his newsroom say they don't know what mgmt wants - so he says, why don't they ask!?
show you care what they think about your work. you might even hear something that will help you get better and keep your gig just cause you are too bloody good to let go. imagine that.
