The point I was trying to make earlier was, don't leave it to chance that the potential employer may wind up calling the ND who canned you.
If you were applying for a job in my newsroom, I would want to know by the end of my first conversation with you all about this incident. If it comes into the process any later than this, you will not be able to get past it.
Any news director with a brain (there's gotta still be SOME left?) should be able to find out the real truth if they want to--and I would definitely say, "Call so and so first, if you're going to talk to this ND at all...." and do everything you can to get the damage control taken care of up front.
If we'd all be as shocked about this as you say, I can't understand why it's even an issue about your hiring. |

I think the problem is many people who are interested in me are calling my former news director before I know they??re interested. Then they get his version of the story before they ever get in touch with me.
It??s funny how many news directors who later get in touch with me??aren??t even asking about my former news director. I guess they??re just taking his story as the truth.
I guess I need to bring it up as soon as they show interest. Sometimes I just don??t want to be perceived as a troublemaker.
I guess it??s an issue because I??m just an anchor/reporter and people are believing an ND over me.
