I was watching, and she CLEARLY called him an idiot (but she was smiling at the time-- so it was more of a jibe than an outward slap in the face).
However, talk of suspension is silly.
Kathi-- who is a mom-- was simply expressing what every other mother who was watching was thinking as well.
We no longer live in the 1970's-- when anchors were simply readers. Should anchors voice their opinions about abortion, politics, or religion on the air? No. But when it comes to showing humanity, you can teeter on the edge every once in a while. This is the 21st century, and broadcast news has to evolve if we want to survive.
I can tell you that a number of people I know who were once indifferent to Kathi now feel "connected" to her since she made that comment. Don't get me wrong--- there ARE limits. But this one was pretty harmless.
