And check that particular station's history when it comes to freelancers.
I worked for 3 years as a freelancer in the top 10... I came in on a moments notice, worked nearly every shift they asked, busted my tail, enterprised my own stories daily...
And then the news director hired two young pup reporters for next to nothing. And I expressed plenty of interest in the jobs... I left the station, but there are two freelancers still there... no shot at full time ever... |

I left a FT gig to take a freelance position in my hometown with only a one day a week guarantee of work - which soon turned into full time freelance work - which soon turned into a ft job ... now back freelancing for another station and would leave the area to go to another market to do the same. You can make your own schedule and work as much or as little as you want - if you can afford to do that.
