..has a place, and it's not with nightly news anchors.. at least not like it was presented by KG. That's why they have Ken Schram; He's the commentator for the station--not her.
And even with all the context insiders may add, remember that most viewers will only hear the word "idiot", and not know her rapport with the guy, positive or otherwise. |

and Kathy decided to voice hers. They (KOMO) have milked this for all the publicity that they can get! Kathy and Ken both are probably laughing this off, esp. since their desks are right next to each other in the newsroom.
