In Reply To: I can??t say what city I??m in because I don??t want my former news director to identify me. It will only makes things worse. Yes, I??m aware that I have a pretty good case if I elect to sue. I??m a bit surprised by many of the people on this board who think news directors always need a reason to mistreat one of their employees. Have some of you people been working in a fantasyland? I??ve been doing this for a long time..I??m a veteran anchor/reporter. I??ve seen news managers run over and run people out of town after the least bit of provocation. As someone said here, unless you??re a member of a special class..you have no rights in a TV newsroom..especially the way this market is going. For my friend TVDawg..I wrote up the exact scenario that started the downward spiral between my news director and me. But, after I thought about it, I have decided not to put the nasty details out there. I will say my co-anchor and I were both disciplined for something that was very minor. It certainly didn??t warrant her getting off while I was called on the carpet in a major way. If you knew what my news director did to me after that incident you would be shocked. That??s part of this whole situation that I would so love to tell you about. But, I realize that life isn??t fair. I??m just surprised to find out that some of you ND??s aren??t checking out this news director??s story about me, by calling up some of people on my reference sheet. They can vouch for the fact that my news director has a serious problem with me. And they??ll tell you how it all started and how it escalated. Let me ask you ND??s this question. Do you sometimes questions the word of a news director who you don??t respect? Or, would you question the word of a news manager who has done people wrong in the past. This question is of course for you quality news managers out there. We do have news managers who are quality people don??t we? I'm saying this is small business and we all know the bad people in this line of work... do you always believe them?
Message: Just take the advice to hire a lawyer and quit wasting time dancing around the ultimate issue you are grappling with, which is the legal one. ONLY a lawyer can help you at this point. And despite what you have said so far there sure seems to be a lot more to you and your situation than meets the eye. Get a lawyer and move on.
