I have noticed that none of her friends or anyone has really come forward with details. Caveat: I only know what I see on regular news and read on the wires. I don't follow the story on cable, etc.
Just what was going on in there that night? Was Natalee drunk? Were they all oblivious?

If you read some of the forums, Natalie's friends and her parents' friends are talking. Also, locals in Aruba are giving good info.
Briefly, the 17 yo Joran van der Sloot was hanging around the group for a couple of days prior to Natalee's disappearance. A few of the kids IDed him to FBI. Said they'd seen him hanging around the group. Natalee's friends saw her in his car about 1:30 am, leaving the bar Carlos n' Charlies. One friend was just driving up and saw her in the car with him and his two friends. Natalee rolled down the window to talk to her and the girl begged her to get out of the car and come party with some of them. Natalee said no, she wanted to go with Joran. She allegedly yelled out something to the effect of, "Aruba! Yeah!" and pumped her fist in the air before they drove off.
Friends say she'd only had about 2 drinks in CnCs. Joran was in there and he may have slipped something in her drink because others say she appeared to be stumbling a little on the dance floor then left with him.
Regarding one of the security guards arrested a few days ago: one of the girls on the trip said some of their cameras were stolen from their rooms at the Holiday Inn. The guard came up a group of them in the hot tub and told them he'd help them find them. They said no thanks. He came back later that night with a flashlight and said he knew where they could find the cameras if she wanted to come with him. The group ignored him and he left. They recognized him later when they saw pictures of him being arrested and the police found some of their cameras in his house.
He may be guilty of theft, but most feel it's Joran and his friends who are responsible for Natalee's disappearance.
There are some rumors that Joran had gambling debts.
As to the timeline Joran and his friends gave, one of the locals said there was no way Joran could have driven from CnCs and back to the HI in the time he said. They said he would have to have taken a back road to reach the beach he said they went to and he wouldn't have made good time because the beach concert was letting out and there were 8,000 people on the road -- very heavy traffic. That means it would have taken hours for them to drive to the beach they mentioned, "have fun with" Natalee (rape?) and go back to the hotel.
Also, apparently the 3 boys said they dropped her off near the pool. But those on the trip say there were quite a few students at the pool until 5 am and they would have seen Natalee come back.
