It seems that many on this board decry the way broadcasting and news in particular have become boring and predictable and NDs seem to copy each others story order, coverage, writing, producing etc. Might the reason for this be that the 20 or 30 year olds (who are the both demographic targets and the new generation of television news professionals) coming up in the business are the "Game Boy" generation used to flashy graphics, minimal human participation, and loud, "hit you over the head" statements rather than well written, challenging and well researched stories? |

I think this is one of the most well written postings concerning the current state of TV news, particularly local news in many markets.
This is not an attack, it is an observation.
If we really want to recover the viewers TV news is losing consistantly, we need to read this post again and begin to understand ourselves. Then we can move forward and make TV news powerful and meaningful again.
