Are you covering EVERY child molester trial in the country... or even in YOUR AREA????? If not, your argument about this being an 'important' trial doesn't wash.
And yes, I do watch other networks, but at 5 and 11... 'The Simpsons' actually IS the most intelligent thing on TV.
Listen, you can defend your putting crap on the air all you want, but the FACT is fewer people watch local TV news.... and the over-coverage of MJ is just one of the reasons. |

News coverage of the MJ Trial is easy and requires no thought process. This is just another easy time filler. Most people wouldn't care about the trial, but since it's on all the time, some people will start following it. Remember television news sculpts public opinion.
Trials are easy reports. It's just like management sending a reporter to a car accident or a domestic murder. It's easy work. Even though it has no value to the viewer; it does create shock value and water cooler talk.
I really wish the news would get back to investigative reports. I think many viewers would appreaciate a change of pace
