As journalists, isn't it our responsibility to make sure we get the story right?
What happens if we don't get all our sources correct? That's right! We set ourselves up for a major lawsuit!
Same thing when it comes to work. You just can't say anything bad about someone unless you have your facts straight! It's called SLANDER! Put it in writing, it's called LIBEL!
It has been taken to court plenty of times, and most judges have their own interpretation of what constitues the offense.
I know you're a hard worker. Everyone else knows you're a head worker. But it only takes one jerk to ruin your rep.
Like I said, get some legal advice from a reputable source.

You commit the "most minor" of offenses... fail to wipe your shoes on the welcome mat... mispronounce a name on the air... whatever. And because of that -- the bossman doesn't talk to you for a year and makes it his life's work to keep you unemployed. Conveniently, he and he alone is that powerful, too. All your potential employers track him down, and everyone else who thinks you are the greatest talent ever is drowned out by his voice. Plus, your coworker did the exact same thing, and for no reason at all, he's OK with her and just hates you. And most of the posters here are OK with this version of events? I'm sorry... I just think there's something else to the story.
