News channels are stating that there were adult chaperones on the trip. I do not know if they were at Carlo and Charlie's.
Given that... I grew up in a rather strict household. I had cerfews, and there were kids that my parents had a watchful eye on... there were a lot of things that other kids were allowed to do that I was not. However, I did go on school sponsored trips to Europe and Mexico, I did go on ski trips with a ski club, maybe 20 kids to 2 adults and did go on the normal trip to Florida for Spring Break with my friends. There were parents in the area, but we had our own hotel rooms, we had our space. This was in the late '80's. I do not have kids, but I am wondering from those who have kids at that age, Do parents let their kids do these trips anymore? Would it be considered bad parenting to allow your child to go on such trups anymore? |

And more than 100 kids. Apparently all the kids & their parents prior to the trip signed wavers saying the chaperones were not there as babysitters, merely in case of emergencies.
Yes, they say at least 2 of the chaperones were there at Carlos n Charlies bar that night. The bar's website says there were about 15 locals in there when the 40 students arrived. I guess the rest were back at the hotel.
