In Reply To: The file on the KKK is considered part of the "Brady material." The State had a legal obligation to give it to the defense. The jury had a need and a right to hear that evidence. The actual validity of the evidence is not the question here. The fact is, there is more "Brady" material which the State witheld from the defense. This includes police reports on at least one other victim who spent time in the home of a convicted sex offender. Now, a federal judge wants to view this material. Material that the State may have, long ago, destroyed. Also, per your earlier rants about "Williams being seen with at least five victims:" In one of those cases, the witness testified to seeing Williams with a victim after that victim was dead! In another case, a witness recanted her testimony about seeing Williams with a victim. Finally, as for that "slapstick" allegedly found in the ceiling of Williams' bedroom: The State NEVER introduced any weapons in it's case against Williams.
Message: As a managing editor for a large, metropolitian newspaper (not the Atlanta Journal) I've been watching and reading this thread and the overall lack of substantive coverage given to recent developments regarding the Atlanta Missing and Murdered cases. Although our paper is far away from Atlanta, we've devoted considerable ink to this story. We consider the issues of doubt over Williams conviction, especially by parents of the vicitms, and the political stench to the State's case a very compelling and important national story. It's quite interesting how the Atlanta media has, for so many years, ignored this story, touting the City's line of putting "the right man in prison and ending this nightmare." It's shameful how Atlanta's media has helped promote and nurture this mentality. Why aren't they asking questions and pounding on doors. We are. And we don't even publish in Atlanta.
