He was working at a good place until the Belo-Time Warner break up pulled the rug out from under him, and a lot of other people.
Maybe he's not ready to retire. A smaller station or market wouldn't necessarily be a "fall from grace" but an opportunity to be more hands-on in a newsroom and still have time to have a life and spend time with the grandkids (if he has any -- I don't know him that well. He seemed nice enough when I met him).
As with many other things in this business -- it's not always market size that matters. If it's a good fit and you're happy, well, go for it! |
