Welcome to the good ole boy network of tee vee news. News Directors are a mixed lot. Some are more on top of their game than others. Many are vindictive and downright hateful. As a group, they generally watch each other's back. I don't see where you have anything to lose by filing a cease and desist order. Quite a few of these guys and gals understand one thing and one thing only: force. |

1) don't be stunned that employers aren't calling "your" references.... why would they? of COURSE those people are going to say great things about you; that's why you listed them.
2) the accusation that the ND is bad-mouthing you, while it may be true, is virtually impossible to prove so you probably won't have much going after the ND legally.
3) if you're good at your job, you probably have many other people who would speak highly of you when they're randomly contacted.... that should cancel out this one ND.
4) if you DON'T have a good track record with other people, you may be screwed.
