In Reply To: I raise the issue of why the media, particularly television has not covered a serious health concern of genetically modified food. I focused on corn and milk. In response I received: - Two Cynical responses about print coverage being the place for such a story. Others have said the size and complexity of the story make it too hard to cover. - One person who said we shouldn't worry about tainted food because he's ok right now.(I have a house next to a landfill I'd like to sell him) - Another person accusing me of not having any data? (apparently we have psychics working in our industry) - Amwomwan crudely commented about the large size of girls "tits". In her own vulgar stupidity she is right. Studies suggest that with all of the chemicals and hormones added to our food children are entering puberty much earlier then they did years a go. They are also contracting disease and medical conditions that were normally only found in adults as well. - A bright spot in the debate came when a poster mentioned a quote from the FDA approval of products like posilac. It is true that it was approved, but look how many approved products have later been recalled. You should also consider that Europe has refused GM food. - Several posters have taken the shoot the messanger approach, attacking me. A few questioned my statents about reporters/producers being afraid to take the story. I would suggest you watch the documentary "The Corporation". Two reporters tried to cover the issue of posilacs effect on dairy cows and the potential risks that could come from human consumption. They were fired. - The blue ribbon goes to the poster who said "I don't drink milk or eat corn." The ignorance in this statement is simple stunning, but the belief that if it doesn't hurt "me" why care is alarming. - A few have called me a liar. Of course they have no facts. - One poster said genetically modified corn is good for you? - Then more joker idiots, the ration of morons to legit poster was not what I expected. - Another favorite was the poster who said he/she had a big book 1200 pages(his/her lips must be exhausted) I was wrong because he/she had this book. - Then the light at the end of the tunnel. A valid point about how Europe had refused the gm food(true), and how powerful the gm food lobby was(also true). What bothers me the most is that all any of you had to do was go to krafty.org(a link I suggested), or do a google search for "GM corn" or "posilac". Most of you never took the 3-5 minutes to look deeper into the subject.
Message: Even though you're clearly the only person who could possibly have a valid viewpoint on this issue -- unless maybe it's someone who agrees with you. Sorry we failed your little homework assignment.
