In Reply To: The sports producers at my station (top 15) and the other stations complain that they don't even make in the mid 30k range. Their are going to be some sports producers marching into the ND's office and demanding raises after reading this.
Message: makes me wonder if you really have the makeup most top-notch sports producers have. A lot depends on market size, obviously, but also on your age and experience. My producer in a 40's has been with us several years and makes over 40k plus overtime; not bad for a young single guy doing what he loves to do. But if money was his top priority, he'd be doing something else. My suggestion, if you're serious, is to be happy to even GET a sports producer's job and then go from there. If you're good, the money will come. If you're a sports "nut", it's a great gig; but if you want to have fun AND make big bucks, find something else.
