went on to graduate study in journalism after your BA? Do you recommend it? Is it even necessary today? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I'm currently looking at pursuing a masters degree. Waste of time? Not necessarily. Most are a year or less. Waste of money? Remains to be seen. Tuitions run quite steep.
My undergraduate school didn't have a journalism program. My internship? Let's just say I don't know a single male intern that walked out of there with a tape, but plenty of females who did (some with anchor segments!).
Now I'm too removed from my undergraduate years to intern and don't think any stations offer reporter training programs anymore.
So yes, I'll have to fork over $50K+ for essentially a tape and some contacts, but I don't really have a choice. I've looked at some tape production companies but until I get some unbiased reviews I'd rather go with an established graduate school.
