Obviously, 7 appreciates him a whole $$$ lot.
I think that 9 has been able to lose popular talent in the past, and barely even feel it in the ratings. However, weather is a different story.
For years they 9 was blessed to have the perfect cheerleader weathergirl in the morning, where that sort of thing is appropriate, as well as an authoritative voice for their later shows.
I have been in this market long enough to think that being "popular" is not as important as being "trustworthy." Might be the other way around in LA, but not here. Weather is just too big a deal to have the cheerleader out front as your main weather presence.
I might be wrong, but I think that in the end, 9 will suffer.
