After going without a promotion manager for like 4-5 months (when news was calling the shots), the station hired a new guy to lead the department. That's why you see a change in strategy.

Channel 3 was "the flagship" station of Connecticut. Now it is spinning out of control. Perhaps 3 will be in 3rd place. It used to a regional news station. Now it's daily tally of murders, crashes and bonehead medical advice. I don't think the six figure income types in West Hartford, Farmington and Madison care about that stuff above all. That's why people who actually buy stuff that's advertised on 3 are tuning out.
It's about profit margins, not public service. Guess what: crime is to cheap to cover! No research, no development. Just stupid shoulder cam shots and reporters convulsing on live t-v in breaking news fits ...begging viewers to stick around and watch. At FSB news turned into a commodity. It's not serving anyone...except the ego of whoever's at the helm.
That's what a viewer has to offer.
Go channel 8. Keep up the good work. You all have not forgotten who is watching.
