In Reply To: I'm not a big Forrest Carr fan. Worked with him in San Antonio...had an ego then too. Overall though, I have to give him credit for being a pretty decent leader. However, how in the world can you fire a guy for trying to protect his employees? WFLA SHOULD have an evac plan for their employees and I applaud Forrest for trying to do the right thing. Dollars to doughnuts that every single station in the state of Oklahoma has emergency plans for their employees in the event of a tonado. (How about ya OK...do you?) Wait till something horrible happens to an WFLA employee because the station wasn't proactive with it's evacuation plan. Then we'll see who gets fired then. The idiot who fired Forrest should be run out of town. A-hole. How in the world did he ever get to the position he's in now is beyond me. You did the right thing Forrest and I know you'll land on your feet. Always have.
Message: I don't like to see people fired, but Forrest is an exception in my book. You can say all you want about the guy, but this was a man who toyed with employees. He hired toadies to do his dirty work and encourged snitching on fellow employees. But I have to say that the day Forrest fired me, on some pretty shallow grounds, was the day I had a ton lifted off my shoulders. I thought his sniping at the other stations and his picture of the "Clue Bus," was immature. I also thought his jokes inside the morning meetings were insensitive and childish. Or how about those unending recap meetings after the newscast. That boy used to love to be the center of attention in those meetings (which turned out to be such a waste of time.) Getting out of that newsroom did me a lot of good.
