In Reply To: Nelson did a good job on the air, but the helicopter coverage was frustrating and poor. Channel 9 appeared to be the weakest. There's not another helicopter team in the market that is any better than Channel 4's. Channel 4's helo team always seems to be in the right place at the right time showing you the right video and the best scenes. Channel 31's helicopter pilot won't fly if there is more than two clouds in the sky. This is where the experience of flying in Colorado shows. Channel 7's pilot and Channel 4's pilot know their stuff! Channel 2: Did they even know about the storm?
Message: Kathy is Sabine is what she is. Stunning to look at, with a smooth, polished voice and delivery. I have never seen anyone READ a severe thunderstorm warning any better. However, her understanding of weather is extrordinarily shallow from what I observed on Friday. She is reduced to repeating, ad-nausium, the same thing (verbatim), over and over again. It was as if it was coming straight off of a script. What was missing was any sort of interpretation of the information...any sort of analysis. That analysis and interpretation is what we expect from our weather "experts." Of course you know what I am going to say next...everything that was missing from Kathy Sabine's weathercast is right there in front of you when watching Mike Nelson. Unfortunately, I would have to agree that 9's coverage looks the best.
