Something's fishy here... READ THIS ONE |

As we all know, broadcast newsrooms have a tradition of "not eating their own." I found out about the switch on the 1010WINS.com website (as you know WINS is also owned by Infinity/CBS). Thinking they had inadvertanly posted the story through some automated AP wire system, I scrolled down to find that indeed there was a disclaimer at the end of the story saying both WINS and 'CBS-FM are owned by Infinity. Then I checked back and noticed the headline on the WINS website reading "HIJACKED." But when I did a little more research, the NY Daily News reported that the OLD CBS-FM format is STILL AVAILABLE ONLINE AT THE WCBSFM.COM website!!! And when you go there, it's still CBS-FM, oldies and all, not JACK-FM. While the website did not appear to have a "Listen Live" option as Infinity's AM news and talk stations now do, and as the Daily News suggested it would, one has to wonder if Infinity is quietly trying to see if loyal listeners will flock to the web to get their music. And if so, what does this mean for the other cities where Infinity is abandoning formats for the "JACK" concept (KCBS-FM Los Angeles and whatever call signs 95.7 in San Francisco had among them).
Like I said, something's fishy here.
