I'm not sure what the reporter for WCBS TV was thinking in her coverage of the format change for CBS-FM. i'm not saying be biased FOR the change, but don't be biased against it.
her story began by saying "it's the day the music died "(ripped off from the Post) then did one interview after another with pissed off listeners. It was completely negative and one-sided AGAINST CBS.

....and the reporter was probably measuring that from MOS interviews and what has been said in the press and other media.
While WCBS-FM's listernership was slowly declining (Mickey Dolenz' hiring for the morning shift turned out to be a critical mistake), it was not a smart thing to introduce a format that would shock and anger viewers who heard the new promos. The "Jack" programming simply ignores older New Yorkers, and besides WPLJ introduced a similar, less intrusive playlist about a month ago.
It was nice hearing "Driver's Seat" by Sniff'n'The Tears after all these years on 95.5 FM, by the way.
