In Reply To: In light of the great weather talent shuffle in Denver, any thoughts on the severe weather coverage tonight? My anlysis: after watching 7 & 9 closely all afternoon, it will not long before the glitter fades at 9. Eyes will follow a more authoritative (and informative) meteorologist at 7.
Message: I didn't have a chance to catch 4 or 7, but I had the misfortune to endure 9's coverage. I'm a lifelong 9 viewer, so it pains me to say they just plain suck now. Kathy Sabine was not authoritative at all, deferring to Taunia Hottman in Sky9 to do a lot of the weather coverage, and she didn't fare well. She called Greenwood Village "Glenwood Village" and didn't point out relevant geographical points of reference while flying over the elevated portions of I-70 (Purina plant, Denver Coliseum), and bypassed any mention of traffic through The Mousetrap, even though the chopper was about to fly directly over it. I agree. Weather watchers will switch to 7 for Mike Nelson in major events like this. Kathy will draw her own fans on a daily basis just because she's the beautiful Kathy Sabine, but Mike Nelson is The Voice when it comes to Colorado weather. It's just too bad Nelson doesn't have a very good supporting cast at 7. Mace, Jamison, and Ortner can't keep up with Mike's expertise.
