Silly question maybe, but I just got back from an assignment where we travelled out West to cover a local delegation at a big convention.)
Station of course paid for flight/lodging/rental car...even gave us a company credit card for meals.
My question:
On two of the days we worked 12-hour days...non-stop.
So, do we mark down that we worked 12-hour days?
I say yes; my photog says no (she says that because the station is paying...and that it's a privilege to travel...that those 12-days should be considered as "normal" working days.)
Who's right? |

Assuming that both of you are non-exempt employees as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act, you are to be compensated for all hours during which you provided services to your employer (including travel to get to your assignment.) This is clear-cut. Period.
