went on to graduate study in journalism after your BA? Do you recommend it? Is it even necessary today? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I got my masters in journalism for several reasons; primarily, because I wanted to make the switch from behind the scenes to in front of the camera.
I learned a ton in school and worked my butt off.
I came out with connections and a bit of experience that helped me land my first on-air gig. I believe I went to a higher market than I would have without the degree, primarily because of the education and the instruction in writing and reporting... but also in part because of my ability to network with alumni.
I think grad school can be good for people in certain situations. It is expensive, but for me it made sense. You have to ask yourself if it makes sense for you.
