After reading all of these post I find that working at KTRK is like being on "Survivor".
I watch alliances form in groups only to betray each other.(producers, photogs, edit)
Challenges/Assignments that usually don't make sense to anyone but are fun to watch.
Immunity given to the most undeserving people. You can figure those out.
(The immunity trophy on the show is nicer than the Christmas jacket though!)
Now that B.B. is gone we hardly eat anymore.
and finally at the end of the day we all go to tribal council to blame each other and be judged by the All Mighty.
When all is said and done, I am not sure what I look more forward to
being around to see who wins at the end of the game
or hearing "the tribe has spoken" and walking home.

Remember the quotation "The grass is always greener..."?
To all you outsiders, do not be green with envy about the folks who work here. Be happy with your wife/husband or girl/boyfriend (kids if you have 'em) and remember that work is only eight hours a day (well, maybe 10. OK, 12).
Also remember that you will last longer than the ones above you, so the shortcomings of one regime are temporary, but then you have to deal with the shortcomings of the successor.
The alliances, back-stabbing and challenges/assignments are part of reality. All I ask is for those to be brave enough to speak their minds in any forum they feel comfortable with. What managers in general fail to realize is that employees do not feel comfortable coming to them with a problem when the problem is management. They take offense and level accusations of "cutting and running" when they fail to face the real issue --- themselves. When an employee is a problem, the issue is dealt with, for the most part. However, when the issue is a manager who may be a close friend of the news director (which most of the news managers are), objectivity is out the window. In his eyes, the manager is not the problem. It's the employee with the gall to state that his close friend is a problem.
KTRKmanagerr, if you wanted a specific, that's as specific as I'll get. If you cannot recall the times when employees have come to you with a concern about one of your managers, then there is a bigger problem.
