In Reply To: I'm trying to put the facts of the Wayne Williams murders out for the journalism public. Feel free to read Atlanta Murders Reopened for facts. Now - the Clifford Jones case. The one the conspiracy addicts say blows em out of the water. They say police ignored an eyewitness who saw Jamie Brooks kill Clifford Jones. And ignored two other witnesses who saw the same Jamie Brooks dump something by a dumpster late at night. The body of Clifford Jones was found by the dumpster the next day. Jones had a slew of those pesky fibers seen during the Williams trial on him. In fact, Brooks was known to be a homosexual who liked young boys. Good suspect. You bet. The Fulton DA himself met with the cops the next day and the witness. They searched Brooks apartment. Interviewed him. What did they find out? The witness was a retarded young boy who told police an amazing story of Brooks, dressed in pink, stabbing and strangling Clifford Jones after having sex with him. There was no stab wounds. There was no ligature marks. There was no sign of sex. The witness flunked TWO polygraphs and his own mother told the DA she wouldn't believe anything her son said. That is your great eyewitness. No DA in America would go to court with that. Nothing from Brooks apartment matched fibers on the body. But they did match carpet, bedspread, and car of Wayne Williams. Who was picked up nearly a year later. Brooks was a good suspect. In fact, the DA at the time thought they had the case solved, until they searched the apartment and talked to the eyewitness. In short, they did what they should have done. Investigated. Found no evidence. Moved on. If Atlanta Police and DA's were so damn ready to railroad someone, why not pick Mr. Brooks - a worthless, sexual abusing, drifter?
Message: I happen to have in my possession, the entire police file on Clifford Jones. I've had this file, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, for a number of years. Atkidpro: You are grossly incorrect in your conclusions in this case. First, according to FBI and Police records, James Brooks continued to be a suspect in the murder of Clifford Jones, several weeks after Wayne Williams' arrest. There was tremendous conflict among investigators and their superiors as to whether the arrest Brooks for Clifford's murder. Secondly, the autopsy report on Clifford Jones, corroborated with the eyewitness accounts, states that Clifford was strangled (ligature) and was sodomized. One of the witnesses, Fred Cosby, DID NOT flunk two polygraph tests! Nor was Cosby "retarded" as stated by some. He was deemed a "slow learner." Finally, the fiber match that Atkidpro speaks of, was a WRONGFUL match. The man who first made that match, Dr. Harold Deadman, the former FBI Chief Fiber Expert, admitted that he mistakenly matched fibers from the trunk of a 1979 Ford LTD to Jones and two other vicitms. Deadman's on-camera admission is contained in a Court-TV documentary which recently re-ran on Court-TV. In addition, the State PURPOSELY omitted Clifford Jones from it's "pattern cases" at trial. Because, the State knew that the Jones Case disrupted it's flawed logic; that if Wayne Williams killed one, he killed all 29 vicitms. The Jones Case, more than any other case, makes the State's overall case against Williams fall apart like a house of cards.
