All it wil take is one station in a major market to drop local sports and they will all fall like dominoes. Local sports in bigger markets have become irrelevant and will be the first to go down. Enjoy your employment while you can.

...sports will go away in newscasts in New York, Chicago, Boston and Detroit as soon as hell freezes over.
Any market with the four major sports will never abandon sports segments as part of the newscast.
Cutting back--maybe. But never cutting out.
