Travelling for work IS a privilege - and everyone in this business knows that long days are part of the job.
If you were dragged into a trip, and OT was discussed before hand, that's one thing. If you worked a seven-day week, that's another....but I would never expect someone to ask for OT while working on the road. |

...what union are you in?
Or--more likely--are you in TV news management?
Either way, you're wrong.
From the time you walk into your station to gather notebooks or camera gear, to the time it takes to go through airport security, to the time you drop your bags in your econo-hotel...that's all on the clock.
As for traveling work being a privilege...ask the guys who work at Newspath, Fox News Edge and the like. The clock never lies.
