Message: drifta-- sounds like you have been in the drink!!! CHEERS. lima, I'm not sure what the motivation for an AND is at CBS 42 KEYE News Coverage You Can Count On. They loped off an AND a while back after blowing the budget on a set that they have since spent almost a year tinkering with to try and make the most used shot watchable. the set looks GREAT on wide/bump shots but after that-- OOOPPS. And here's some free consulting advice from Ray, give the weatherguy some phone books to sit on. his shoulders are at desktop level & there's just a tiny head overshadowed by a bunch of plasma screens w/ StormTrakerRadar on them. The new AND is stepping down in both title & market size. She was a ND in San Diego. Then again, it was at an WB owned by Tribune that only did a single 30min newscast everyday. So chances are they aren't a player in the market. She'll fit right in here. How they can afford her... I don't know. If I worked my abacus correctly, my beads show they are spending just shy of a million bucks a year of their payroll budget to cover their motley collection of kvue cast aways. (and that's JUST the on air castways) Let's not forget there's a behind the scenes contingent trying their best to copy the KVUE benchmark. The new AND must be coming cheap. Housing in A'town is far less than SDO, but it's still the highest in Texas. So some quick theories: 1) Tim senses the staff ain't buying his newscommoder-like predictions of greatness for the 'EYE so he's suckering in a newbie to blindly believe his grandios dreams. 2)CBS/Viacom is getting impatient and has brought in a mole to monitor TG and get a feel for the market before she gets a promotion. 3)It's another needless hire so they can have more chiefs in the tent and fewer Indians in the field. (pardon the less than PC analogy) as for KXAN, they had a slightly rocky ride this year-- but they know the value of not steering widly when the seas get rough. I think they'll stay the course and address their problems one small step at a time. Jane Pauley took the wind out of their sails, then they started taking on water when the tide went down on NBC's prime and their 10Pm hit the rocks. KXAN yanked a 5PM years ago to focus their efforts on the 6 & 10 because they couldn't effectively compete on 3 fronts. It was a move that appeared to payoff. But, as soon as Jane proved to be a debacle, the fast fix was slapping on a 4PM news. It's back to being the same loosing battle of fighting on 3 fronts for KXAN. I predict they'll limp along until they find a fix for that 4-5 hour, then they'll get out of the early newsgame and focus on trying to win at 6 & 10.
