What's the old saying those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Back in the 90s one of the all time blunders in local TV news took place at WCBS when a handful of anchors were all let go at the same time. Anyone remember the famous "Anchors Away" headline?
Unfortunately that incident continues to be repeated to this day.
hl-79 - viewers don't care who's behind the scenes, but
they do care who's in front of the camera. And it's been a revolving door the last few years with many familiar faces disappearing under the current administration (everyone from David Diaz and Morry Alter to Ira Joe Fisher and Warner Wolf)
You can't blame the Early Show and the View for that.
Regardless of all the spin at the end of the day WCBS is still #3 and sometimes #4 in the ratings.

Don't continue to contribute to the idea of changing WCBS again. 5 year plan is right. Just leave it well enough alone.
Also, the solution is not to continue to change the people!! They have some pretty good talents; the people at the other stations have just been there longer. So leave it! I like the gutsy LOCAL & EXCLUSIVE leads at 11pm unlike some of the other stations.
Work on promotions, or take the news on the road or something to get people sampling.
