WAY too much.. i didn't say "don't have any oversight of public projects"..i said "don't give the CALIFORNIA legislature control over THIS ONE"...
being as san diego, where i work, was the runner-up for the headquarters of this thing, i've probebly spent as much time, if not more, looking into it than you have..and i'm virtually certain i've been working in this business longer than you have..
something may ver well stink here.. but unlike you, i'm going to watch, wait, and research.. and we'll SEE what, if anything, stinks..and also unlike you, i'm approaching the story with no particular biases one way or the other..and i don't plan to jump to any conclusions without hard and fast evidence that such a conclusion needs to be reached..for the sake of your readers/listeners/viewers, you might consider doing the same thing..it's called journalism 1A.. |

in private hands.. at least they know what they're doing."
Am I misquoting you there? I would argue that they might know what they're doing too. So did Al Capone.
And while you are going to "watch, wait and research" other journalists - as in the link I provided - are way ahead of you:
"...an agency entirely funded by the California public is being run according to the practices of a private enterprise...."
"Lawsuits are challanging the constitutionality of Prop. 71's exclusion of public and legislative oversight."
An "independent citizens board...dominated by individuls with a stake in the research. Many have major investments in the biotechnology industry"
The chairman declining to appear at Assembly Senate hearings.
You also have no answer for the institute hiring a $10,000 a month PR agency to fight the legislature - using our money to contest our elected officials.
And nothing stinks to you???? Nothing alarming, worth investigation?
But if you've looked so deeply into the matter - maybe you can clear up the above for the rest of us.
