In Reply To: I've seen the expanded INEWS manual in a binder that is literally 5 inches thick. There must be a 1,000 pages. I for one don't have time to read a thousand pages to get up to speed on "Everything" the system is capable of. The regular version is much smaller, but still annoying. All I know is, it is producer unfriendly. Whatever happened to AP NewsCenter? That was a system!
Message: Well, let me think about this. 1000 pages is too much to read, therefore I don't want to invest the time to find out what the system will do, hence the system is no good because I don't know how to use it. Does that about sum up what you are trying to say? These companies, ENPS and iNEWS, offer professional training and education consultancy services. My job depends on using these types of system. If I were you I would make sure that I was properly trained on the tool that improves my productivity and improves my resume for my next job. The problem with iNEWS is that it can be configured to do almost anything, hence the 1000 page manual. Perhaps your station doesn't have anybody on staff who knows how to make it do exactly what you want it to do. That's not the fault of the product, but the fault of the station management in not putting in enough time and effort to ensure their investment in the technology is producing the increase in efficiency and making the product easy to use. Call the iNEWS support help desk and let them know what it is about the system that makes it producer unfriendly and I'll bet that you'll find out your system isn't set up to do what you want.
