WSVN used to be bold and distinct. They are still strong but not the cutting edge station that they once were in this business. Their news is loaded with pop culture and are weak on investigative reporting.
WTVJ is very conservative and boring. Their best numbers are in the morning. The Today Show does huge numbers in Miami.
WPLG is now bragging they are # 1 at 6 PM and only tenths of a point away from # 1 at 11 PM. They have the best anchor team. Be careful taking a job there because they are going to drop their 5-6 PM news next year for Dr Phil. Word is the are getting ready to jump on board the new ABC News Now 24/7 digital cable channel but I have not heard when that will happen.
WFOR can't seem to capitalize on their Oprah and CBS prime lead-in ratings. They are a distant third at 6 PM despite the huge Oprah ratings from 4-5 PM. And at 11 PM, they are not able to pull ahead of the pack despite their huge 10 PM audience.
The real powerhouse news stations are the two Spanish language stations that do local news. They beat all the English language stations by a longshot.
