Watching MSNBC today, it showed a piece on Serbian soldiers torturing and brutalizing Muslim captives prior to systematically executing them. It's part of the evidence that prosecutors are using to bolster their case against Milosevic.
Following the piece, the anchor, Amy Robach (sic) then says, "switching gears now...." and then tosses to a Runaway Bride piece.
Please, I'm not blaming the messenger, but for any producers reading this, isn't that an almost tasteless transition? Going from life and death (literally) to a story that impacts only a single person?
Doesn't it minimalize or even trivialize the true pain and reality of war and genocide?
Now, I'm not naive, but I honestly have to say, wouldn't a more thoughtful producer have gone to break or faded to black or something beside sliding into that goofy 'runaway' bride aka 'stupid human tricks'?
I just would like someone else's take, if you would be so kind. |

don't want to believe it.. but i do..whatever happened to the good idea of story clusters..same type stories within segments?..there is no way anyone could make a transition like the one you just cited.. the inmates truly are running the asylums..
