In Reply To: Murrow was the first on radio I think. Maybe they mean CNN was the first on TV (really it was just audio with graphics). But true live TV of actual battle? I'm not sure that has happened yet. The stuff going into Baghdad maybe to a degree. But live, you are there firefights? I'm not sure networks would even WANT to broadcast that. Seeing some US soldier getting his head blown off on live TV? Does not sound very good to me. Actually, the "live on film" stuff from Vietnam was awesome! And they had to shoot it on 16 mm film cameras! Even a few days late, that was powerful stuff and better than anything I've seen from Iraq yet. The Vietnam interviews in the field with the soldiers were great too. I remember one where the soldier was exausted behind his gun, telling the reporter that "killing for peace" made no sense. Too bad we can't get that kind of footage out of Iraq, maybe the American people would wise up.
Message: but they specifically used the phrase "first to broadcast" which, in my book covers TV and radio.
