A lot of you are complaining that iNews takes extra steps. Someone even said that they couldn't use their mouse!
WHERE THE HECK ARE YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS?!?!?
They can build you macro functions, toolbar buttons, help you use graphical add-ons like Title Entry Tool to preview your CGs. There are plug-ins to view graphics direct from the StillStore databases. There's so much power in the system that most of you never know exists because your "SuperUsers" either weren't trained properly, or you might not be asking the right questions of them.
I promise, I'm not a shill for Avid... but I gotta say, after 10+ years in this biz I like iNews NRCS a hell of a lot better than ENPS, AutoCue, Sundance, or Basys.
If your station is still using NewsStar... you're almost 8 years behind the mix! UPGRADE!
That said...
If anyone has questions about iNews shortcut keys or functions on iNews, and your SysAdmins are weak or non-existant... I'd be happy to try to help out.
Yeah -- I'm a director, but I guarantee that I know more about iNews than most Producers at most shops. I was a SuperUser at my last gig and I helped to suggest and write a lot of the macros and codes and shortcuts that made my producers' live a bit easier.
No... iNews isn't perfect, but if you work with your tech staff, you CAN customize it to do almost anything. All it takes is a little computer knowledge and know-how.
