In Reply To: Jesus Christ! What is it with you and the OIO bashing? You take exception to every post. Bottom line: OIO is the only news that's actually watchable. The rest of the newscasts should be called comacasts. Awful. Boring -- poor writing, poor stacking, poor production, poor reporting and WEAK anchoring. Cleveland acts like market 116, not 16. Maybe you could learn something about big market polish from OIO -- whether you think so or not. I'll bet you work at 5. Your arroance ives you away.
Message: I don't live in the Cleveland market but have always noticed the HUGE volume of subjects about Cleveland, WOIO, etc... I had the opportunity to visit Cleveland a couple of weeks ago and was excited to check out the news products to see what all the hoopla was about. Now, I know that when I was watching, I didn't exactly have a completely unbiased mind, but this is what I gathered. WKYC: Very conservative, very boring. The newscasts need to be jazzed up a lot, I could have fallen asleep during the 7pm show if I wasn't careful. They're very non-sensationalistic (which is a good thing), but they just need a little kick. WEWS: Unwatchable. It seemed like stories were out of place. Graphics, set, logo, all horrible. I think I watched the 5pm show and was just miffed at how small market it seemed. The anchors were (putting it kindly) nothing special. The male anchor seemed like the real Ron Burgundy. Lots of error. WJW: I mainly watched the morning show and must say that as far as that goes, I loved it. Wish we had something like that where I'm from... Otherwise, I watched their news at 10, and while the content was pretty decent, the product just looked stale. They need a new set ASAP, and a graphics update now! WOIO: What can I say? For the most part I really enjoyed Action News! Fast pace, compelling presentation, great graphics. However, I happened to watch when they ran their "love potion" story, and I think that could have been toned down a bit. But their a tabloid operation, and they live up to expectations. Their newscasts just felt really major market to me, and the others were too relaxed. If I'm the typical Joe Schmo viewer, I'd get the impression that 19 really puts the hustle on, and is working harder than the other stations. Overall, if I were to live in Cleveland I think I'd basically mainly watch WOIO... Call me crazy ;)
