In Reply To: Does anyone have any ideas what a fair salary would be for a freelance editor in a top ten market (i.e. one relatively new to Avid or other forms of non-linear editing)? I'd appreciate any feedback.
Message: If you're cutting offline, then the pay will be really low, if you're an online editor, you'll get a LOT of cash. But, you need to have an excellent reel to back up what your asking price is. News is mostly cuts only, so pay is really low, but if you move up to tv shows, documentaries and commerical editing you could make 500-700 a day.
