You should already have a reporter job if you want one that badly. It doesn't take that much to get your first gig but 9 times out of 10 you'll need to move unless you are connected to the hilt or just happen to have a family member who is a news boss.
Maybe you are just waiting to have it handed to you on a silver platter. That most likely won't happen in this business. You have to go out and get what you want. I wouldn't take another AP job if you really want to report.

I dont know if its accurate to say...it doesnt take that much to get your first gig. You are competing with 150 other grads...so yes...it does take a lot of talent.
However, I think the poster..and my previous post are correct in asserting... there is a point where you have to come to reality about whether your cut out for reporting.
Only the best out of the 100 gets the onair job. And those people...usually get a job within about 3 to 4 months.
So if youve been struggling for a year to get an onair job...chances are, it would be wiser to go with something else.
The marketplace tells you if your ready.
